Ep. 11 - #Rogue One - Interview With Fanfiction Writer Wintersend

In this episode I interview fanfiction writer Wintersend about her Rogue One fic ‘Perseverance.’ Joining us all the way from Hungary, she remembers reading her first Harry Potter fanfiction on fan-run HP archives in the mid 2000s. Eventually she started reading fics on FFN using Google translate, and from there decided to read the stories in English which is how she learned the language. We discuss Wintersend’s favorite angst trope and her OTP Rogue One Jyn/Cassian pairing. She recalls watching the Star Wars trilogy for the first time with her dad, and falling in love with the bittersweet romance and gritty storytelling in Rogue One. We talk about themes of love, hope, and survival in her fic and Wintersend explains her views on why she thinks fanfiction is valid writing.
