In this episode I interview fanfiction writer MMM_AJ about his Pokemon/Legend Of Zelda crossover series called The Traveler’s Trilogy. MMM_AJ explains that he started writing fanfiction as a child without even knowing what it was, and was delighted when he eventually discovered that other people wrote fan stories too. Inspired by the novels and fanfiction stories he read, MMM_AJ began writing his Traveler’s Trilogy series which begins with Mewtwo’s journeys to distant lands and eventually blooms into a multi-generational history of the Mewtwo species. MMM_AJ has been writing, editing, and re-writing this project for 20 years, and he tells us what it’s like to work on a series for such a long span of time. He shares his experience as a neurodivergent writer, offers encouragement and advice to those who struggle with improving their craft, and reminds us that self-compassion and acceptance are essential keys in our development as artists.
