In this episode I interview My Hero Academia writer RogueDruid about his MHA AU fic called ‘Locked In Digital.’
Rogue recalls developing his love for writing in high school in a creative writing course, and then tells us how he discovered fanfiction for the first time through role playing online with friends. He ventured into RWBY fanfictions and then branched out from there to Harry Potter, Naruto, Bleach, and others.
Rogue talks about one of his first fanfiction writing projects, a Winter Soldier AU, and then shocks ChaosBlue by admitting that he got involved in the My Hero Academia fandom exclusively through fanfiction and wrote his first (and most popular) MHA fic completely fandom blind.
ChaosBlue hijacks the conversation for a moment to share her NSFW cougar thoughts about pro hero Eraserhead, and then we dive into ‘Locked In Digital’ and what inspired it in the first place. We cover aspects of Izuku’s personality and experiences in the fic and how they differ from canon, and Rogue tells us about some of his favorite scenes and POVs from the project. Rogue also generously shares a short list of his personal writing quirks, and encourages fanfiction readers to check out tags they don’t normally look for because you just never know what you’ll find.
