Ep. 24 - #HP/MCU - Interview With Fanfiction Writer YodelingProspector

In this episode I talk to fanfiction writer YodelingProspector about his HP/MCU crossover fic ‘Cupboards and Cryogenics’ and his earlier MCU fic ‘Finally Belonging.’

YodelingProspector takes us through his earlier experiences with writing and fanfiction, and shares his early love of reading and Disney films. As a special education teacher he’s developed an interest in disability representation, and he talks about the importance of incorporating this into his fanfiction writing. He also shares some of the fics that helped inspire him along the way.

We talk about found family tropes and explore themes of trauma and recovery in ‘Cupboards and Cryogenics.’ YodelingProspector explains what the Bucky Barnes character means to him and why he feels that Harry and the Winter Soldier make a great found family together. We also talk about his earlier WIP fic project ‘Finally Belonging,’ which is a found family fic with Loki and Tony Stark. YodelingProspector talks about the real life story that inspired him to use Disney Movies in his fic to help Loki along in his journey to self acceptance, and shares how fanfiction can help us accept ourselves as well.
