In this episode I interview fanfiction writer MordorIsCalling about her Witcher fic 'Secret.' Joining us all the way from Poland, MordorIsCalling remembers discovering fanfiction for the first time through YouTube recommendations. She describes fanfiction's role in helping her learn the English language, and says that experience opened up whole new worlds for her. She talks about Wiedzmin's origins in Poland and why Geralt of Rivia is such a relatable character. We discuss themes of language, love, devotion, and emotional vulnerability in her fic, and the worldwide nature of fandom and fanfiction writing. She offers great writing advice for new writers and shares her perspective on why fanfiction is wonderful and worthy of our time and attention.
